48th ANNUAL NORTH DAKOTA CHAPTER IAEI FALL MEETING
OCTOBER 23-34, 2008
The 48th Annual meeting of the North Dakota chapter of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors was called to order by President Josh Wilson at the Best Western Seven Seas Mandan, North Dakota. Josh led the meeting in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag and appointed Dan Offerdahl, Vern Hertz, and Tom Dwyer to the nominating committee. Secretary Don Offerdahl announced we had 178 attendees and 22 guests. Don also indicated we had 7 vendors which opened at noon. The educational program for this year’s convention was Soares Grounding instructed by Mike Johnston, NECA, Phil Simmons, National Armored Cable Manufacturers Association, and Richard Lloyd, Steel Tubing Industry. Field problems were moderated by Mike Forister, Western Section Secretary. At 1:00 p.m. Josh Wilson called the meeting to order by asking for a report of the nominating committee. Nominating Committee Chairman, Dan Offerdahl, announced the following slate of officers:

Motion by Bob Kvitne, seconded by Bill Cole, to accept the slate of officers as presented. Motion carried.
The banquet was emceed by President Josh Wilson. The Distinguished Service Award was presented to Eugene Cross. Special recognition award was given out to Braun Electric for the dedicated work they did in the August 2007 Northwood tornado recovery. The entertainment for the evening was presented by Terry Fleck, The Attitude Doctor. Western Section President, Dave Williams, installed the 2009 slate of officers.
On October 24 the educational portion continued with a presentation by Mike Johnston on the Value of National Electrical Installation Standards and Soares Grounding in addition to the Code Panel. Code Panel members consisted of Josh Wilson, North Dakota Chapter President, Dave Williams, Western Section President and CMP-5, Don Iverson, National Electrical Manufacturer’s Association, Tom Lichtenstein, Underwriters Laboratories, Mike Johnston, Phil Simmons, Richard Lloyd, and Don Offerdahl, CMP-9.
The business meeting was called to order by President Greg Schmidt. Secretary Don Offerdahl read the minutes of the spring meeting and the Executive Board Meeting. Motion by Josh Wilson, seconded by Bob Kvitne that the minutes be approved as read. Motion carried. Don gave the Treasurer’s report. Motion by Al Schroeder, seconded by Ross Rubbelke, to accept the Treasurer’s report. Motion carried. Dan Offerdahl, Education Chairman, gave the Education Committee Report. Brad Steier, Membership Chairman, gave the Membership Report. We have 10 new members that signed up at this meeting. Dan Offerdahl submitted his name for the IAEI Code Panel Manpower pool. Motion by Josh Wilson, seconded by Mitch Feininger, that Dan get chapter approval for his name to be submitted for the Western Section Code Manpower Pool. Motion carried. Don gave a report on the website. President Greg Schmidt appointed the following committee appointments:

Rich Wolfe reported on North Dakota Chapter Bylaws on corrections that should be edited from the present Bylaws. Motion by Rich Wolfe, seconded by Ross Rubbelke,
to accept the changes and present the proposed amendments to the membership at the next meeting.
Motion carried. There being no further business, motion by Ross Rubbelke, seconded by Josh Wilson, that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 1:08.
